Abrams, a lone lighthouse keeper and societal hermit, lives with the burden of his past. Sleep-deprived from recurring flashbacks, Abrams fails to keep the light one night, resulting in the shipwreck of three uninvited guests on his shore. Having lost his captain, Jones, a young and impulsive sailor, blames Abrams for the death. After Jones uncovers a crate of mysterious letters in the cellar, he suspects that Abrams has something to hide. His suspicions are solidified when McCleod, delirious with fever, calls Abrams by a different name - hurling Jones down a trail of deceit and danger to uncover the truth behind Abrams' past.
